Cuban Cohibas and Nicaraguan Padróns don't want the same conditions. Most collectors compromise — storing both in a single environment neither prefers. Dual zone changes that.
Every cigar blend has optimal aging conditions determined by its tobacco origin, leaf density, and fermentation stage. A Cuban Cohiba Siglo VI and a Padrón 1964 Anniversary are both exceptional cigars. They are not exceptional in the same conditions.
Cuban tobaccos typically prefer 65% RH / 65°F for long-term aging.
Nicaraguan / New World tobaccos typically prefer 68–70% RH / 68°F.
A single zone forces you to choose one — and compromise the other. Read the full MON3800A review for 6 months of dual zone testing data.
Dual zone means two completely independent humidity AND temperature environments within one cabinet. Not just separate shelves — separate active control systems. Zone 1 monitors and adjusts independently of Zone 2, continuously, 24 hours a day.

If you collect exclusively one tobacco origin, single zone is fine. If you collect across origins, dual zone is worth every dollar. See our humidor buyer's framework and our 1,000–1,500 cigar capacity guide before deciding.

If you collect multiple tobacco origins — Cubans and New World tobaccos — yes. If you collect exclusively one origin, single zone is adequate.
